Section Six: Applications in the Domains of Professional Practice

Our Scope of Practice as speech-language pathologists includes our efforts in advocacy and outreach, supervision, education, research, and administration and leadership. Section Six allows us to think about multi-cultural, cross-cultural, multi-linguistic, and cross-linguistic applications in these domains of professional practice.

  • “Multi-” means many. “Cross-” is your bridge from yourself to one other specific colleague, student, manager, or research participant.

  • How can our outreach, research, education, and other professional practices be multi-cultural?

  • Building bridges with an individual colleague, student, or other person who differs from you

  • Using languages, or using one other language, to meet the needs of our colleagues, research participants, students, and others
